can you tell me an interesting fact about lego racers i loved that game as a kid

Of course!

You may remember that many of the game's tracks have shortcuts — I'm gonna tell you about the one that doesn't. In the retail releases of the game, Basil the Batlord's home track Knightmare-athon lacks any shortcut routes. That said, we know that it had at least one shortcut during development, which was stripped out prior to the game's release.

The game data still contains the checkpoint data for the removed shortcut, as can be seen here on the lower left:

Many of the game's shortcuts are hinted at in the hand-drawn maps on their respective loading screens, and this is no exception — the exact path in the checkpoint data is shown clearly with the dragon's fire-breath.

There's also this screenshot from a pre-release beta version of the game, which shows how it would have looked on the track. According to an interview with Lego Media manager Jeff James, hitting the boulder (ostensibly with a projectile powerup) would have opened up the secret passageway.
