I don't know if it's just the circles of the Internet I've been exposed to, but it's weird to me that the two types of male figure that are most common are the buff/fit type and twinks. At times it feels like the twink hype is also a direct like, response to the Right's hyper masculinity, so it became the defacto "this is what peak male looks like" for a strain of online leftist.
It feels weird to veer so hard from one hard-to-obtain ideal to another.
Who knows! I'm probably wrong because I can only speak to the smallish bubbles I'm in.
