have you considered: giving your persecutor a hug? they might need it, they're still stuck in fight mode after all this time, they still feel unsafe for some reason.
if needed, you can fight a highly symbolic puzzle platformer boss fight with them to lena raine music beforehand, that might help

we just put ours in the time-out pen and haven't heard from them since. We told them they could come out when they could behave, and they have toys and plushies and stuff in there
i want you to consider being told by someone in your own head "i don't like the way you're acting, so i'm going to put you in a box you can't get out of and everyone's going to ignore you until you start acting the right way. also we're going to constantly infantilize and belittle you while we're at it."
To be fair, her system is mostly littles. Still maybe not the best solution, but less infantalizing than it sounds without knowing that.
