As some of you may know, one of the earliest elements of my Morphic Korps setting is the Hand in Claw Morphic Therapy Center.
A combination of clinic, community center, and spa, Hand in Claw locations are funded by a wealthy polycule of elderly cat lesbians whose abusive husbands all mysteriously died.
Since then, they’ve established a steadily growing chain of locations where “morphs”, the setting term for furries and such, can go to receive medical care, physical therapy, and psychological and community support. Services include:
- Transition care, both transgender and cross-species.
- Employment assistance to help morphs support each other and avoid poverty.
- Specialized medical care that accounts for the peculiarities and special needs of non-human people.
- Physical therapy and group exercise to help people adjust to new bodies.
- Psychiatric care and counseling for what is ultimately a marginalized and discriminated-against community.
Hand in Claw is a pillar of the morphic community. Though it cannot help everyone, and is often the target of violent attacks, it has made a real difference in the lives of thousands of morphs, and will continue to do so.
