We're a Bunch of Weirdos

Hi! We're a fairly diverse plural system with various origins and interests! ADHD, autism, likely BPD. Uhm... Yeah, gonna work on this a bit more soon?

As new versions of Windows adds a new "administration" interface that's just a layer of indirection to the previous interface, the field of Tech Support For Windows will begin to resemble archeology.

Look at this menu, its corners, its texture, its font choice. What versions of Windows is it from? What era of design metaphor does it use? How deep are we, what year have we reached? And most importantly, how much further must we spelunk into the system to find the Windows XP screen that actually lets you update your settings?

"We're going in circles now. This is the fifth Update Sound Options we've passed."

"No, we're getting closer."

"You were on this exact screen half an hour ago! See, faux-metal buttons! This is Material Design."

"No, this screen is from the neo-skeuomorphic period, around 2028. The last menu was retro-skeuomorphic, from the early 2040's. See, the headers have antialising disabled."

There will be entire textbook chapters about the secret passages that let you bypass Windows 11.

Okay, now we have to pull off the touch skip. By configuring the neural interface to register as a touch screen device and feeding it a series of frame perfect multi finger gestures, you can trigger a bug that changes the target of the sound mixer action to point to the windows 8 mixer, saving a full 2 minutes on the run

They are making everything objectively fucking worse with every new version, aren't they?
