I believe that masturbation is frowned upon by society because it "looks silly"
CULTURAL REFERENCES to masturbation with a PENIS are more common than MASTURBATION with a VAGINA (citation needed) because I believe that PENILE MASTURBATION is more well-known due to how silly it looks (like a clown making balloon animals) wheras vaginal MASTURBATION is often ignored either because it stems from sexist beleif that women (most common vagina-owners) have no interest in sex, or mayb ebecause it lacks the "pyrotechnics" and showyness of the penis
this led me to think about the Seinfeld Episode where they have a competition where they don't masturbate (Season 4, Episode 11 "The Contest") and this episode famously has it so Elaine takes part in the contest, despite the men's insistence that this is not an issue women face (also famously, she loses)
I turned my mind toward another icon of american comedy who has since fallen, and that was louis CK, who talked about masturbation a lot. I remember one quote of his that I found very disturbing ever since I first heard him deliver it, and I actually found the whole quote here it is

I think this quote ties into what I was saying about sexist prejudices people have with regards to masturbation where this joke and variations on it were around so much at the time. sex is something women endure, but that men NEED. and yeah its bullshit and that can be attested to from Louis CK's sexually harrassing behaviour that he would justify with beliefs like this
these stereotypes have often made me think about my relationship to my own body and wonder if I would prefer a vagina just because I prefer the elegance of it. is that ME making strange, stereotypical judgements??
