kadokawa is not just the publisher of rpg maker. it owns japanese media. this corporation is impossible to avoid. asking translators to boycott kadokawa is like asking them to quit translating japanese media.
kadokawa funded elden ring for god’s sake. are you going to tell everyone to stop playing that game and fromsoft’s catalog. if you want to be serious, this is what you have to do:

Yeah, this fucking sucks. Kadokawa did a BL exhibition and how it related to queer rights in Japan in May. At the end of the exhibit, there was a comment wall with hundreds of post-its saying, “support queer rights” and “marriage equality now.”
It’s like whiplash seeing those words written on the walls of their museum and then them defending the book with bogus facts about LGBTQ people.
kadokawa is a mega corpo so it probably has different factions. my guess is that someone in the publishing team really likes the book and it may not sit well with other people in kadokawa
This is why ethical consumerism is, and will always be, a farce. Companies can easily get around it by buying up smaller companies.

I read the earlier posts in the thread (and similar posts on other issues) not as "You cannot boycott Kadokawa so don't do anything" but rather "It is so impractical to boycott them that doing so wouldn't be a productive use of your energy vs other forms of pressure".
BDS's page on how they categorize boycott vs pressure targets has some more info on why blanket boycotts aren't always effective and can actually hurt your cause.
yes, people don’t realize that it wasn’t some nebulous boycott that pushed kadokawa off (even if a boycott happened, there was only a few days to make it even be successful) but rather pressuring kadokawa by turning this into a controversy that shocked enough investors to cancel it.
I am shocked this had a happy ending re: them retracting the publication.
