On top of everything else today, I went to YouTube this evening and it magically transformed into this garbage. Possibly the worst UI I've ever seen. Everything is huge but nothing of value is loaded on screen. It's an insane waste of space. Under the video is just a bunch of giant thumbnails for recommended videos. When it was in the sidebar, the videos continued to load as you scrolled through comments, and I've clicked on those before! Since the comments are on the side now, they actually moved the recommended videos out of your line of sight where you have to actively scroll down to look at them. Ain't nobody doing that!
Speaking of comments, the stupid "all-in-one box" actually shrinks the video player significantly, plus takes extra clicks to view anything. Worst of all, watching a live stream provides the viewer with literally NO information. No title, no description, no likes, not even the channel name. NOTHING. You have to hide the live chat to get any information because that too is part of the all-in-one box! As you can see, it's not even wide enough to display the text fully. And don't even get me started on playlists! You can view either the playlist or the comments, but not both at the same time. If I shrink my browser to half size or watch in theater mode, it moves everything under the video but I still have to click on the description/comments/playlist to load them in their own little box with their own little scroll bar, all squished next to each other. The hell happened to web design, man? We've gone back to the 90s. No matter how much they want to sugarcoat it, these are just fancy HTML frames. At least those were always embedded in the page and didn't have to be clicked on to be expanded! It's so bad that it couldn't possibly have been designed by professionals, so I don't know what happened here.
And the stupidest part? It goes back to normal if I'm logged out.
