I do like scenarios where a person is shrunk down after messing with a machine, despite being told to NOT do so. Their friend catching on what happened once they come home and doing their damndest to check every nook and cranny for you and making sure they haven't already stepped on you.
Eventually, after half a day, the friend does stumble upon the location and manages to reach out towards your with teasers to pick you up.
Except...you're never lifted up. Instead it seems they picked up someone else who had also shrunk down and with your friend now relieved, they head up the stairs and out the lab...
