i haven't seen it said since we got an influx of new users so I'll say a bit of cohost advice that stuck with me and that's that you Can Just Make Posts. You can just open the composer and type things, silly things or serious things, and then just say them. You don't HAVE to have "something to say" to make a post, you dont HAVE to have a well-formatted essay post about the thing you wanna say to say it. You absolutely can and i love that people share posts like that all over the place! But don't feel burdened to only make High Effort posts. And it doesn't matter if it doesn't get any attention because numbers dont matter. I tag all my text posts so if it's annoying people can muffle them, and it's really freeing being able to just make low effort silly posts. I dont know if this is good for you, but it's good for me, and i figure that's worth sharing.
happy chosting <3

it feels a lot like how tumblr used to feel IMO. now that my blog is being seen by random people it usually wasnt and being projected to people in ways it used to not be it feels so invasive and i feel so on edge + the rise in violent philosophy and argument/drama clout and gawk culture it just didnt feel very safe anymore. cohost feels a bit more like the feeling of hiding under a counter or table with your friends as a kid (or by yourself) if that makes any sense. my page here is like a secret little hideout. my friends dont visit it often but thats okay. i used tumblr for a looooong time but.. im stepping away. its beyond "getting scary" now its in full terrifying swing. its nice to break away from bigger name sites, even if its lonlier. very much a price im willing to work with. i was spoiled because a lot of this applies to tumblr even now, im really hoping more people from websites with a lot of pressure on looks and "quality" and /marketing/ their own microblogging moves here. this really just feels like if tumblr cared, and its wonderful. i dont know why im sharing this, but in the spirit of rejecting the growing internet culture of coldness and mocking genuine thoughts and vunerability in socialization, im gonna submit it anyways. i hope you have a great day☀

due to lack of being able to like comments, i now feel compelled to actually interact with your comment instead.

i also really appreciate the warmth that cohost is kindling, despite its apparent barrenness.
i'm normally pretty lurker‑y by nature, but the current culture makes it feel easy to just poke my head out and interact on occasion.
still don't personally do that a whole lot even here, but it's definitely at least more than i used to??

honestly,

  1. thanks for the response
  2. ⬆️ i hope they dont add the ability to like comments, i think verbally confirming and agreeing helps motivate more positive discussion and kindling of friendships. i hope it pulls people out of their shell especially the hostile, and it should also discourage bullying
i hope interacting becomes easier and less scary for you, rather, i hope that the world becomes less scary to interact in
