So Good Smile Company are releasing the first official model of the robot from the unacceptably pulpy 2004 manga and anime Kannazuki no Miko, and they put Himeko and Chikane kissing in the foreground of the box art. Evidently at least some people involved in this understand exactly how the series is remembered.
plus, they tore up himeko's tights, so you'll remember what kannazuki no miko was about. smart!
With the box shape, (note where the logos end) I think they're on the left flap for folks to find.
I remember downloading an episode from animesuki back when it first came out and near immediately recognizing that — as someone primarily interested in the robots — I wasn't the audience the show had in mind, lol.
It's entertaining if you have your expectations managed, but yeah, not really the gearhead's choice.
I'd almost certainly appreciate it more if I watched it now, but at the time I thought that the romance and the robots where too disconnected from each other.
In hindsight, if the pilot were one of the girls, I'd have probably been on board!
I do believe this is the first time I hear that there were mechs in that series
