“alright, so if i sum the duration_time from all the packets while i’m at it, that should obviously get me the stream duration too. wait why are these all off by a few seconds. what how is only one of these off by 5 minutes.”

Wrangling ffmpeg with multicast streams was an absolute nightmare, and I wasn't even the one actually trying to write all of it.
That place ended up finding a middleware provider that had written their own stack for such things.
