like i guess i can understand why just, giving people money apparently for free, is seen as suspicious or undesirable financial activity, because who knows if it’s actually money for illegal drugs or whatever and they’re just concealing half of the exchange. but also there’s something particularly insidious (especially in this economic situation) about how mutual aid is apparently being systemically demonized by payment processor overlords now, just as they’ve done with sex work and pornography. at this rate, by the end of the decade you’ll only be allowed to pay for food, rent, cars, gas, Amazon orders, and Netflix subscriptions, because all other types of financial transactions will have been made functionally impossible.
