i'd love to know the real reason between twitch going "ok everyone, artistic nudity is okay again!" before immediately burying that and going "oops okay nevermind, actually, please do not do think of a female-presenting nipple or we will turbo ban you".

i assume a big advertiser and/or payment processor went "wait, does this mean people are paying for porn on your platform" and they crumped like a ball.

i specifically don't buy the "people were hate raiding / mass reporting nude artists" thing, because (one) you can ignore your shitty reports if people are abusing it and (two) you would ban the hate raiders instead. but at the same time who knows, twitch is dumb as shit and so is all of this

the stated reason is "ai generated art looks real and that makes our jobs hard":

However, there also was a great deal of new content that was allowed under the updated policy. Much of the content created has been met with community concern. These are concerns we share. Upon reflection, we have decided that we went too far with this change. Digital depictions of nudity present a unique challenge–AI can be used to create realistic images, and it can be hard to distinguish between digital art and photography.
