Jacob. white. communist. music, video games, anime, and visual novels. probably not as many anime girls on here as on twitter, eh.

my best friend turned me on to this album years ago when I was having a real rough time of things and it became a massively important album to me. beyond the personal connection I have it's just such a fuckin magical sounding record. the guitars are bass all have space to breath, the drums are punchy, and the vocals are screamed for dear life.

everything works here. the ass kickers ("The Water vs. The Anchor," "You Can Only Be So Careful") are frenetic and the softer stuff ("An Allusion To Italy," "13 Cheers for Beer and Bullshit") have an earnest sincerity that doesn't really exist anymore in emo/screamo after the whole genre took a header into the irony pool. "As Long as She Doesn't Smoke" has one of my favorite simple lyrics ("Don't you hate it when it turns out you're the asshole") and "For Meg" might be one of the best hardcore songs of all time. That song was my introduction to WYAaWYWTB and the moment when the whole band kick in still fucks me up.
