Ive never noticed this whilst watching shows before but you would be SHOCKED by how many implied anime horses there are, that exist just out of frame or just off-screen. Its wild they must save SO much money, and more importantly TIME by doing this.

when you think about it, is it really horses that are implied here? for all we know, these carriages could be drawn by velociraptors or some form of large mollusk. there's a whole world of implied beasts of burden being hid from us.

i have found more examples of implied horse than 3D horses, so that's actually how it seems to work!

If anybody wants to know the actual reason why anime is so averse to depicting horses, it's because:
1.) Horses are really fucking hard to draw. https://www.newyorker.com/humor/daily-shouts/how-to-draw-a-horse
2.) Presumably, they're also an unimportant enough aspect of most stories that most studios would rather not bother with them than endure the headache that is syncing 3D animation to 2D animation for some horses.

this is extremely funny to me having just finished G Gundam, a pre-CG series that prominently features a fully animated horse being wreathed in Cool Power Latex so that it can pilot a fully animated horse Gundam. They cooked different back then
