Before I knew how to make games, I drew games on paper. I think these are from when I was... 9 years old?
Super Metroid -esque item screen Super Metroid -esque map, with different colours for different doors and so on
As can be guessed, these were for a Super Metroid -inspired game. I actually drew a full-ish map, although only the earlier parts follow some kind of sensible structure; later areas are more linear and feel like me trying to draw cutscene content rather than a metroidvania map.
Zelda-esque garden-yard area The princess congratulates you in very broken English
Further broken English ensues as the princess tries to explain where you are A thief introduces themselves, again in very broken English
These were for a Zelda: Link to the Past -inspired game. For whatever reason I didn't think to apply the same map-esque style to this, so everything took way more space. As a result, the adventure didn't get very far.

Since English was the language I had seen in games and thus inherently cool, I felt that I had to use English in these. I'm really glad I have examples of this stuff around, it's hilarious to read them now.
