It always fucking sucks

But if I tell you to play some piece of brick weed ephemera on the PC-88 you should do it because that shit also sucks but in a vibes type beat kind of way

ok but also like if you haven't played yar's revenge you are genuinely missing out that shit is like the journey to the moon of early videogames

i recommend playing Yars' Revenge so you can be a hater of Yars' Revenge reboots (this is a very healthy way and reason to interact with media why do you ask?)

Anyhow, my own personal misguided recommendations/hyperfixations for 2nd gen console games are not on the 2600, but the Channel F:

  1. Dodge It -- Not to be confused with the crummy Atari pseudo-racing game Dodge Em, Dodge It is the purest form of solitaire videogame dodgeball (you can also play with a friend).

  2. Video Whizball -- The wizard who made this peered 30-40 years into the future to steal the concept of Tim Rogers's Videoball as best as he could.

Robot War is cool, and Alien Invasion is an astoundingly competent port of Space Invaders, but beyond those four that's about it in terms of interesting titles on the platform.
