Metroid Confrontation was a fangame released by the AM2R guy (Milton Guasti) back in 2010 to show off the engine he made. In 2017, the hacker VitorWYX made a demake in the Metroid 1 engine. It's pretty good (imo, ymmv, etc.). You can find it on RHDN.

Anyhow, I made a map of the demake, and also attached one of the officially sanctioned maps of the original here for comparison's sake.

this feels like a monkey's paw wish but i would very much like Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion remakes in Dread's engine

In order to satisfy as many people as possible, we need to have every single Metroid game remade in the engine of every single other Metroid game. It's the only way to be sure.
