Hello, Yoshio Sakamoto and Kensuke Tanabe. This is my pitch for Metroid 4.5. Please review it carefully.

This hack is my submission to the latest Metroid Construction hacking contest. You can find it here:

Despite the in-jokey premise, I put some serious effort into making this a very open-ended metroidvania that is accessible and interesting to players of all skill levels. I hope you enjoy it!

About 10 other hacks were submitted to this contest as well. Check them out in the forum thread starting here. Some of them might even be excellent!

(Please don't mind if the server says "Resource limit is reached." Just wait a few moments and refresh.)

gossamer is a recent Super Metroid hack by my buddy neen that I did some playtesting for. He described his creative process for this as being freewheeling and unplanned, akin to freeform jazz or something.

I ended up liking the end result, thanks to its extensive routing options and bizarre usage of the SNES's blending modes. However, it has been quite divisive within the community, with people taking issue with its increased gravity, large amount of underwater segments, unclear progression, and overall aesthetics (their loss with that last one). As always, caveat ludor.

Anyhow here's the full map

There are a small handful of things that I've left off this map for the sake of mystery, which are not required for 100%. I hope you understand.(If I just so happened to have hidden a map with those secrets somewhere, I wouldn't tell you so easily :3c)

You can find my other maps here.
