Laddegus is a surprisingly skittish person despite the fact that he typically weighs in over 500 pounds, measures up to '6''6 in his full armor and gets through most fights he's dragged into by punching his way out. But that armor betrays the frail, lost creature entombed within. Being undead, he woke up in the castle of a necromancer with little to no memory of who he had once been, and as a result knew little else but terror and pain. His only solace was Gieg, the demon who had been bound to the bracer of his armor, acting as a light source and companion. As a result, his personality developed into that of a socially-avoidant and easily-startled man who is slow to start fights and quick to end them, reliant on Gieg's input for a span of time before finally gaining confidence in his own instincts.

Due to lacking a lower jaw, he requires at least the helmet off his armor to communicate properly with anyone who isn't telepathic, using low-current conductivity to create a low, harsh bass to augment the soft, struggling rasp of his natural voice. This combined with his skeletal appearance does him no favors in public, not to mention people seem to think the kind of armor he's wearing is especially strange to see nowadays despite such things seeming to be commonplace amongst defensive warriors.

Perhaps the one strong hint to who Laddegus was is the form of undeath that he was resurrected with. Rather than being a corpse puppeted with someone else's magicks like a zombie, drifting aimlessly as a ghost or faintly clinging to his own body like a wraith, Laddegus's soul is bound to a large opal within his chest that allows him to control theoretically anything his magic energies can reach within a certain range as part of his body, though anything straying too far from the typical Kendan body quickly gets disorienting. While this form of undeath allows him to use his magic as much as he wants with no need to recuperate, any damage caused to the opal causes him immense pain, and can even cause short-term memory loss if a piece if chipped off. He can guess quite handily what would happen if it were to break entirely, and it's perhaps the one fear he can't overcome.

Together, Laddegus and Gieg wander the continent as a demon hunter, helping Gieg regain his strength, using the bounties to repair their gear, and giving the rest to any folks around town in need. And until they find the reason they were brought together, they've learned to enjoy eachother's company despite their own issues.
