Choose one thing your character has practical experience with, one thing they have theoretical knowledge of, and one thing they have both practical experience and theoretical knowledge of. When your character acts, roll 1 die. Add 1 die if they have relevant practical experience, 1 die if they have relevant theoretical knowledge, and 2 dice if they have both.
