When it rose from the floor it was a wolf, and I thought that it had come to eat me. But I suspected that I was dreaming, so instead of running I challenged it. As I loudly told it that it was not welcome and must go it circled my bed but did not come closer. Then I saw it change, first into a bear, then a dog, then something in between. I realized that it was a man, a shapeshifter who had hoped to scare me off and take my home. But my steadiness had shaken his confidence so his form had wavered along with it. I was no longer afraid. Seeing this, the shapeshifter turned into something small and fled out the window.
