A collective of podcasters, streamers, and bloggers geeking out over the things we love.

In 2022, we began to see game releases that were initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This meant we had a deluge of new games to play! We had to spread ourselves a bit thin to cover as much as we could but we had a blast doing it. When reflecting on our favorites this year, a few games, in particular, rose to the top of our staff’s minds. We celebrate these games - and everything else we enjoyed this year, with oodles of honorable mentions - in the 2022 edition of Geek to Geek Media’s Game of the Year Awards!

There’s no more surefire way of getting my attention than by inserting the word “kaiju” into your game title. Making it a turn-based strategy game on top of that ensures that I’ll check it out. Kaiju Wars, developed by Foolish Mortal Games and Michael Long, is that desired combination of giant monster premise and strategy gameplay, and it’s the sort of game I dreamed about playing as a child.

Every person on our staff who's played Golf Story has absolutely adored it.

Naturally, we were all on tenterhooks about a game entering the same space. It's a small niche, but the bar is high for "goofy little indie RPGs about sports". So, can we get an away-win with Panic Barn's particular blend of slapstick charm and football action?
