We might need Eggbug to start popping up before people can post and say "hey it looks like you're about to make a massive post that's going to dominate everyone's feed, would you like to use the read more cutoff to have some basic consideration for your fellow posters?"

I'd actually appreciate this because I'm very prone to posting vertical pics and completely spacing on using the readmore feature
The other tricky part is if you do it wrong (i.e. don't have a blank line above and below) it just kinda throws it in randomly somewhere and that part gets me frequently, but I don't think they can do anything about that part
You can also just comment in it and ask nicely, or message people directly if you know them. I have done this before and it's usually met with something like "oh my bad" or "oh, that's a cool feature! Thanks"
It could be more obvious and/or automated, or the auto cut off could just be shorter, but kind nudges are currently underutilized imo.
