Fedex lost a package I'd been anticipating for over a month and what bums me out the most is as soon as I saw it was shipping with them I was like "aw man I hope they don't fuck it up" and sure enough, they fucked it up. And it's just so wild that it's like that! There's an entire company that is primarily known for fucking it up and we all just go "well, I sure hope the person/service I've paid money to ship something to me doesn't use the shipping service that fucks it up". And if they do, they'll likely fuck it up, and their tracking service will just be "unavailable", and in order to make a claim you have to make an account, and after you make an account and click "file claim" it just takes to a blank page without even the decency of an "unavailable" error message like package tracking has. And so you call their customer support number which has also been entirely automated, with that super reliable and fun to use voice recognition stuff, only Fedex's specifically will hang up on you if you say that you want to speak with a human being, as if I needed more reasons to spike my blood pressure over all this.
So now my only recourse is to call the shipper, who of course doesn't have anyone working in the office at these hours, and leave a message basically saying "hey, I know I paid you for an item and you paid to have it shipped, but you decided to save a couple bucks on the shipping and use the guys who tend to fuck it up so now it's fucked up." and hope that they care enough to try and make it right, but you and I both know that if they were the "caring about their customer" types they wouldn't be using Fedex to ship their shit in the first place! So now I don't get my dopey little boardgame, but everyone else gets paid and I make this bitchy little post just to try and feel better about getting fucked over.
Update to this: Their package tracking service finally works and has a picture of the delivery, which I've included because it's such a worthless photo that a cabal of every competitive geoguessr player couldn't locate me with it for a million bucks. Not only is that not my apartment, there's no package in the actual picture! So it's exactly as I surmised, which is the driver got here, saw some stairs, said "nah, I'm good", chucked the package and took a picture of some stairs, and then tagged it as having been left at the front door. But it's not all bad! Their claim service is working again today! ...But my tracking number is for a "Fedex SmartPost shipment", which means only the company that shipped the package can file a claim. So I'm still screwed.
