I forget exactly what big thing in the news happened in early 2014, but I was once mid-sentence selling a computer to a guy when he interrupted me to talk about the news and spun gradually over 5 minutes into shit about how the people over there are "different" and that the US needs to intervene, and take down (oh yeah it was the Russia-Ukraine stuff in 2014) Putin because ever since we pulled out of europe things have been getting worse over there. And I had that exact "This is simply not what my brain is calibrated to do while it is in work mode" experience and just blanked. I sold that guy one of those annoying all-in-one desktops that are also monitors iirc, because he latched onto it for his cool new drone?? who knows.
