Incredibly funny to me that Valve's DotA2 christmas event giftboxes are giving out bans for toxic behaviour. Literally held off on banning people just to put them on a naughty list for christmas
People using multiple accounts get a lump of coal saying "hey we are banning your alts, but not your main"
People who are mega mondo jerks are getting a lump of coal saying "hey we are banning you until 2038 and that's only because Dota2 can't comprehend a date bigger than that"

far as i'm aware (i'm no dota-er or general competitive gamer, this is secondhand) smurfing is when you play on an alternative account so you can play against much lower tiered players in the rankings, or otherwise intentionally tank your rank so you can play against the lower tiered players
