I don't think enough time has passed to see if this has happened or not but there's part of me that's hoping someone makes note of just how many views hbomb's video got and how often he said "wow this video is super-easy to make, I barely have to write anything!" and lazy video essays on youtube are forced to adopt a culture of self-regulation because everyone knows that the second you start copying other people's work you're throwing chum in the water for lazier, meaner sharks. There is no policy or algorithm that can instill the same behavioral changes as real, genuine fear of the power your fellow user wields over you if you mess up.
