I had to put a new door cling on the front door at work after we closed today and I got told to get the door wet first and I didn't know why, so I didn't bother doing that, and then after a few minutes I looked at it and was like "oh that looks quite bad" so apparently that's why you do it, so I did it. Only then afterwards I was like "hm there's a lot of water underneath the cling now" so I started pushing out the water with my hands and I realized a squeegee would be perfect for this, and vaguely remembered we had one in the cleaning tools that nobody uses bucket, so I went and got it and yeah that was the ideal implement for removing the water. Except, apparently, part of the black rubber on the squeegee was... melted? Melting? I have no idea but it was leading goopy black streaks over the dang window cling and then my dumb ass just goes "huh what is that" and TOUCHES it so I get a big gob on my hands and I quickly realize that oh ok now anything I touch gets gooped and hmm this is really not just rinsing off under water while my hands get progressively more covered in uncomfortably grippy gunk and the worst part is the whole time all I can think is "wow everything I've read about this exact situation implied it would be a much more exciting process."
