I'm always quick to say I'm not a big computer guy, which is to say that I use computers frequently and have a vague idea of what's going on in there, but I try not to hold opinions I can't back up with actual experience and understanding. So I'm not gonna end a friendship over a chat protocol disagreement*, but I'll run adblock and noscript as a matter of course, because I know we've made the internet very bad and these are useful tools for me to put the kibosh on that. Yesterday I discovered that Twitter has reached the point where it will not show tweets without JavaScript, and I neither know or care if that's a regression or progression, but my gut says "no you shouldn't need that to show me text on a web page", so I'm not putting an exception in for em. I'm not a big computer guy but I can certainly emulate their stubbornness!
