trying to parse it all ok so you're a group of people manning a ship running from a threat that cannot be defeated and is sending regular boarding parties? It's L4D that's hard to fit in with the other two.

Also, yeah it's gross and is proof that "fans" are in charge of the marketing. A normal person might say a movie is like "if Keanu Reeves was the main guy in the Terminator" but marketing folks should make a point not to do stuff like that, it's uncouth, it's your special creation - don't denigrate it to be a mish-mash of the influences.

I watched the actual trailer and despite narrating the full gameplay loop I found it striking how stuff like "what happens if you lose" was glossed right over. Essentially you're supposed to jump from planet to planet, you actually control the ship (one player pilots it, presumably?) and try to land, then run around doing looter shooter stuff, then take the parts back to your ship to upgrade it, and then also use that for combat. Honestly without a more raw look at the game I feel like it's being a bit oversold in what it can provide, but it looks pretty enough so people will certainly buy it and try it for me.

lol that last sentence is so true. I fall into a habit of saying "if it's good they'll still be playing in a month or so and I'll join then" but that is not how it works anymore.
