I spent an unconscionable amount of time playing Payday 2, for reasons I don't think I could really explain without just ending with "you had to be there", and you'd be better off just watching a "PSA" video by MarioInATopHat to really understand the vibe. However I took a "let's wait and see" approach with Payday 3 and boy they're having a rough go of it over there. It had like a bad launch in terms of stability which is honestly par for the course but their roadmap for course correcting took a couple months to let you un-ready in a lobby if you clicked the ready button prematurely. Their first DLC went over really poorly because of how expensive it was for what you got and the second one they'd been hyping up as a return to form revealed all the launch day network stability issues had never been fixed, they just don't have enough players regularly for the issues to occur.
But now they're also having a design issue where they realized an ability that picks up ammo automatically combined with an ability that makes ammo go straight into your weapon's active mag means players rarely have to reload; they tried to redesign the latter skill to be much weaker and add some new ones with similar but weaker effects and the backlash was so strong they reverted the redesign but kept the new skills in, so the net result is players got even stronger. If my explanation wasn't clear, there's thankfully a PSA for this as well.
