          Gum Monster!!!

Okay now that I'm home I guess I can churn out a better post than the burn after reading clip, but probably not.

I saw someone mentioning that they saw comments on the news post that were really vile and I figured it would be people on this website who hate this website doing victory laps, but all I saw was one person really mad that they can't open source the code because they don't own it, and I can't imagine giving a shit about that either way. I did see a lot of profiles I recognized saying stuff like "thank you for making the one place I felt safe to be myself on", which I thought was interesting because my only other exposure to a lot of these accounts was them screaming about how not enough undesirables had been purged from the site or getting into snark fights so long that the site's comment system would just render them unreadable and save us all the hassle.

I didn't use this website enough to feel any anger or sadness that it's going away, but it wasn't so bad for what it was. I genuinely never felt the safe warm cozy feelings that so many people professed to pick up here and I suspect that will be the case wherever we all end up next as well, because I fundamentally don't belong with the cohort of cohost, but have nowhere else to go. I still got to interact with some fine folks who I would not have had the capability to speak with otherwise, and so I don't consider it a waste of time. I'm Geight on Telegram and Discord, and whenever someone starts something worth posting on again I'll be Geight there. See ya in the funny papers.

You're getting published in the funny papers these days? Big moves for sneasel!

I feel the same way as you though, I never felt cozy or whatever but I also didn't use the site much. It's fun seeing what others are doing, and I'll miss getting updates on a couple things, but life goes on.
