The “always online”-ification of everything drives me insane
I have albums downloaded on Spotify, so why does it have to load when I open them at my place of work where I have garbage cell reception?
what in the entire fuck is it loading???
Why can’t “downloaded” mean it no longer has any dependence on an internet connection??
Just wanted to add to this since I'm re-mad about it - I see people talking about this topic making points like "not everyone lives in a big city with good mobile internet infrastructure", and this is very true, but I'd also like to add: I live in Seattle, the supposed tech capital of the country, and there's still many, many places in this city where my cell signal is SHIT! And I mean absolutely unusable, refuses to load anything DOGSHIT!
So I don't think there's even any place in the country where the always online model is tenable, and it's even worse in smaller cities and towns. It's just the usual en-shitification of tech under capitalism.
