I feel like the whole ATLA universe has some kind of brainworms aura around it that makes everyone have only the most black and white takes on it
I wouldn’t fault the creators for walking away from the whole franchise bc everything they create for it has to either be flawless, perfect groundbreaking TV, or the worst thing ever made, completely ruined the whole series
- ATLA is very good but not immune to criticism
- Korra is definitely flawed in some of its writing and plot development. The animation though is incredible and there’s still some good plot arcs in it
- I’ve seen some people say the Netflix ATLA is “worse than the Shamalan movie”?? That’s so wild lmao. But being over-criticized doesn’t mean it’s actually really good! It unfortunately has some aspects that are well done and some that are not, like most things (aside from live action adaptations of animation being a waste of time to begin with)
Anyway watching things that are flawed and trying to understand what works and what doesn’t is a lot more fun than trying to land on “it sucks” or “it’s good” for everything. But you all know that already lmao
