Evadne Mer Tyrrhénienne, a siren who fell in love with a human; a dime a dozen story, except the sea witch they went to for help demanded their heart in payment rather than anything they could live without more easily. Rather foolishly accepting the deal, they found that this put something of a damper on their tragic doomed romance, so they just stole their lover's wallet and hit the road to become a con artist.
Their voice can fascinate and enthrall, but only when the hearer is already in love with someone or something else - they can't create love and devotion from nothing, but they can co-opt it. They can also steal away your breath with a kiss, but if you can keep your head and get yourself into some water right away this can be survived.
