This isn't going to be very organized prolly but I have a lotta thoughts I have to get out
Like... it really only counts win streaks, yeah? It's not much about who you won against, who you lost against, like the older system, I know a lotta people have a bone to pick against the whole "points" thing and how you don't de-rank but to me those don't matter as much as the fact it's purely going on the win streaks, not who it's been, 5 easy matches because you somehow got paired against a team of 4 people who are below your rank that are trying out weapons they never used before? Lotsa points, 3 hard, close matches against 4 people whose name your recognize for how often they get on leaderboards? 160 down the drain
Also, unlike how Open goes, you don't really get that much of a chance to hang out with your team of random people, yeah? Someone you go with might be on their last life and your first loss means you aren't going to be with them anymore, someone might be one to two wins away and you just started so you get a good two games in and wanna party a bit in the lobby but well, they ain't there anymore
I like having two different queues a lot, that's fun, I like that you can go solo in Open, unlike how League was, and it's low stakes so if you want to play a few ranked mode matches without having to put your rank on the line, it's there, I like that the point system makes that possible and I'd rather that not really be changed
But I also wish that series wasn't much of a thing? I wish that instead of it being "series" it used glicko, it had a pool of points to give and subtract depending on the predicted difficulty
Also the fact that disconnects, a thing that ends up happening horribly often, sometimes the whole room goes out, cost you a life with no medals, no matter how the match was going, kiiiinda sucks, a lot of series I was doing really well until disconnects started happening and that demotivated me and I started playing worse
And, well, the thing with early disconnects just, cancelling the match, as well? Sometimes things look like they're going to be a sweep and someone on the opposing team disconnects, it's really hard to know if it was a server problem or if they just did it out of spite? "Oh, you're winning? Fuck you, don't"
That's that on that though, I dunno how much of this makes sense
