i just love how on here i can post whatever i want, share whatever i want, comment on whatever i want, and it ultimately doesnt matter bc theres tags on my profile for people to see what they wanna see and mute what they dont wanna see

i always see so many posts on twitter about ppl complaining about RTs and likes and its just like. makes me feel like every interaction is a calculated exchange rather than something genuine. "u scratch my back and i scratch yours" rather than "oh i like this persons art lemme follow them so i can see more"

also its punishing to share or even post on twitter. RT too much, unfollowed. text post, unfollowed. reply to too many tweets, unfollowed. which, in itself, i dont think is bad. ppl are free to unfollow anyone they find annoying. its just that the number is sitting there for u to see and notice and make u censor yourself for the sake of appeasing people. which is stupid. its YOUR page, YOUR experience, why are we caring so much about appealing to those kinds of people LOL

the kind of mindset twitter breeds just makes it that much harder to find friends, especially if you have a bigger following. all ppl see is the number and boil you down to that. they value what u can give them, not who u are. and ppl wonder why "the big artist circle jerk" is a thing (its not a thing, just looks like it bc of how twitter works).

these artists remain in their circles bc they know they can trust the ppl in it. they know they wont be treated like clout tokens. im sure there are a few bad actors with egos, but thats so few and far between, good luck trying to figure that out without looking like a giant fucking toddler and making a clown out of yourself lmao

also i like how i can just go on these huge rants without having to think about condensing it all into a few tweets and having this huge fuck off thread string that just clogs the whole timeline. i can just put it under a "read more" and not have it be so annoying lol

I legit was really nervous to comment on peoples work cause I was scared I'd be seen as being a grifter or just trying to suck up to the 'big' artists x.X
Twitter encourages you to treat the people there like they're nothing more than investments and it's incredibly draining.

yeah absolutely. i try to be as genuine as i can on twitter but i get so tired of what i see on the website, even if its extremely culled to its bare bones. moots QRTing the weekly artist discourse every saturday is also annoying but im also too opinionated to not say anything LMAOOO 😭
and tbf i also often (usually) care about their opinions, their nice art is what grabbed me at first. i like knowing what they think and feel, etc.

I genuinely could not agree more, -everything- about this place is just so much more conducive to a positive experience, I've been able to talk to so many people! and it's so nice! there's no weirdness at all!!!

and twisting what you said in a slightly different way (I think) I'm most passionate about the sheer amount of customization of your dashboard (is there another word for it here?)!! the tagging/cw/etc. systems make it reasonable to use one account for everything and it's just... so nice... ;;;

Metrics just make you more the person other people want you to be and I hate it. Its really nice to just have a place to share and speak my mind. When i follow people like you said; it feels like an opportunity to make a friend; and its so nice to not feel this gamification or like im just making "content"

yeah i hate the idea that everything we put out is like, content catered to a massive audience or something. we just drawing shit we like and making friends along the way, and the fact that we're in an age where artists you aspire to can literally notice you too and engage with it is crazy awesome.
