A weird thing about being a former fursona is having a list of skills attributed to you that mostly don't exist, and insofar as they actually do, you don't actually know how to do them. For me that means pyromancy (which is obviously unlearnable), and alchemy (which wasn't completely made up, and can reasonably be interpreted as applied chemistry).

I assume this is also something fictives can relate to? Actually saying that, I wonder whether I could count as a fictive?

But yeah, it does leave an odd situation. It feels weird to call myself, as a person, an alchemist when I have such a cursory knowledge of the real world history. But it feels weird to call myself not one, because it was kind of a central tenet of myself as a fictional character.

Just 'cause I know this is the kind of post that would scare us off, replies are appreciated.

in reply to @FaeAlchemist's post:

our system contains two alchemists (the Elric Brothers, in fact) and as a result we intend to study alchemy, and determine its theoretical feasibility (if any.) so far we haven't made a LOT of progress. but at least we feel like we understand a few concepts from alchemy a bit better than we used to. ~Chara

We're a system with fictives, many of whom are interested in learning magic. The one who handles most of our magic work though is a non-fictive black goat. Stepping into magic and learning about subtle energies has been amazing and rewarding; we would highly recommend trying it out. -host

That black goat writing here: we're not very far into our study of magic but nonetheless assured of it's presence. Alchemy, witchcraft, etc. it all rests on understanding and interacting with non-physical energy, and for us there's little to no separation between this and spirituality. Who's to say conjuring fire is impossible? I wish you good luck with it and hope to accomplish it myself one day.

A fictive chiming in! My character studied magic all the time, and recognizing that character simultaneously as myself and not-myself, like an oak tree might feel about an acorn, I fully intend to study magic here in this world too! I got to start our grimoire, even! :3 Much love from a character our host won't let me describe ...yet!
