I just leveled Black Mage to 50, and with that I have all my magic jobs into the tomestone gear levels. I can get rid of my low level casting equipment, yaaaaaaay!

Next up, I plan to level Scholar gradually. I don’t feel like I have a good grasp on the job yet, so I want to take my time leveling it, and I might bring it on level 50/60/70/80 dungeon roulette on a regular basis. That roulette doesn’t give a ton of XP, which is actually what I want: more gameplay time to learn the job, but not rapid leveling. Healers are always scary to learn, though, because if you fumble your job, the party can wipe. I’m picking Scholar to level because I find it more forgiving than Astrologian, and because of its two-for-one deal with Summoner. Summoner seems like such a simple job that all I need to do is check in on it once in a while, but it doesn’t look like it will take much learning.

With no sub-50 jobs open any more, I should also start leveling my remaining Disciples of War. I think I will probably start with Pugilist, though I will want Rogue right behind it. Then I will take up Machinist when I get those two to 30, and level them all to 50 together as I did for my low level casters and healers. Then once I get all the other jobs to 90, or nearly, I plan to start on Paladin — my least favorite flavored job because I really don’t like holy knights.

Your assessment of Summoner more or less matches my experience playing the job. I started the game as Arcanist and ran Scholar in duties and Summoner outside of duties and never found it that overwhelming to swap between them. Hope it works out for you!
