In addition to the four dungeon tasks, this week’s Wondrous Tails has for me Mhach, Aglaia, Second Coil of Bahamut, E7-8N, P6N, and Deep Dungeons. With my self-imposed rules of no unsyncing and no retries … I’m going to have to skip Coil, because I doubt anyone else is queuing for it synced, and also I’ve heard Coils are awful synced. So this week I will be trying out Eureka Orthos (which I had been meaning to do), and also deliberately queuing for E7N, which I dislike greatly but still less so than E8N. Well, when I undertook this challenge, I knew what I was signing up for!

Aglaia, P6, and E7 (gag) down. I’m off my game so I’ll log off and watch something now.

Took a crack at Eureka Orthos solo, and yowch. Tried first on Warrior, and got killed when a text message distracted me while a grenade was exploding, but I could tell I just didn’t have the DPS and was going to time out — that death was probably about 45 minutes in, on floor 4 or 5. Tried again on Reaper, made much better time, but got murdered on floor 8 or 9, some time past the 45 minute mark, by a Meracydian Clone. Not sure what I was supposed to do about that one except not aggro it? It hit me very hard with just its basic auto-attacks.

Anyway, that’s about 90 minutes sunk into it with no permanent progress except a boost to my aetherpool stuff, so I’m going to give it a rest. Might take a crack at Palace of the Dead for WT instead…

All mopped up now. Ended up soloing Palace of the Dead 1-10 on Reaper for my WT sticker; it was fairly trivial but I just wanted to get it out of the way. Got unlucky shuffling, so I’m waiting to uncover the last two stickers until I get some more Second Chance points to shuffle more and hopefully get a line.

Thinking about this situation and my self-imposed challenge … getting Coil on my WT was a problem. I lucked out getting Deep Dungeons rather than Treasure Dungeons, since I don’t have good opportunities to do Treasure Dungeons, but if I’m not so lucky next time Coil appears, I can always do PvP. There’s always a PvP sticker in Wondrous Tails, and while I’ve only done PvP a couple times before and found it confusing, it’s not like I have to win. I can just give it an honest effort for one match, then walk away with my sticker.

Yeah, all dread beasts are sight aggro (which means that they only aggro on you if you walk in front of them) so you wait for them to turn, and then sneak past behind them. That, or you use a Pomander of Storms and immediately smack them.

Re: explosions, are you keeping to the edges of rooms or walking through them?

Ah, thanks for the tip on the sight aggro, I have never had to think about that before! As for that grenade explosion, it was a monster rather than a trap, and I knew how to avoid it, I just got distracted by a text message when I needed to dodge.

As for traps, they were annoying but not lethal for me; I went ahead and walked through the middle of rooms because I had taken advice to keep to the edges in Palace of the Dead but hit traps at the edges anyway. I’ve noticed that traps don’t seem to be lethal by themselves, so I use ranged attacks to pull enemies into known safe areas to fight them, then go for treasure chests etc. once the monsters are gone.

Anyway, I did my WT sticker by soloing Palace of the Dead floors 1-10 on Reaper, which was pretty trivial. So that’s out of the way and I can revisit Eureka Orthos at my leisure.
