Whew, my top level dungeon roulettes were clownshoes this morning.

  • Expert Roulette was merely annoying — we got Aetherfont, I saw we had a first-timer Black Mage, and while I (tank) was warning them that the bosses were going to make them move a lot, the other DPS pulled the first mob pack. It took until after the first boss to get back into the normal rhythm of the dungeon, but at least nothing disastrous happened, just a DPS who really should have been tanking if they wanted to control the flow of battle.

  • Level 90 roulette, though, was a total shitshow. I had Lapis Manalis with a first-timer Ninja, a Red Mage who might also have been a first timer but was less inept, and a Sage who didn’t seem to have a complete grasp on their abilities. The mob pulls took a long time to clear, the whole party except me was down for a little while on the second boss (thank goodness the Red Mage got a Verraise off on the Sage before dying themselves — I’m pretty sure I can solo that fight but it would have been s l o w), and the final boss took about twice as long as normal. All told, it was a 28 minute clear of a dungeon that normally takes 15-20 minutes. Yow.
