I’m starting to derust FFXIV in preparation for Dawntrail. Ran a few roulettes with a friend last evening, then felt an itch later on and healed the 6.4 Trial. That was still fun and menacing as always, amplified by having three first-timers. Good times!
More generally, I have some misgivings about Dawntrail because I’ve never played FFIX (I tried but bounced off it a couple times) so most references and nostalgia bait will be lost on me, and because playing other games more lately has made me realize how much of FFXIV’s writing just doesn’t really connect with me. But I’m cautiously optimistic about it, and I’m looking forward to trying it out in a few weeks!
