It’s funny it’s taken me so long to realize — back when I used to play Star Trek Online, my favorite ship builds played pretty similarly to Warrior from FFXIV. I liked to fly cruisers, which were the big lumbering tanky ships with lots of HP and slots for defensive equipment, and I’d always use the Miracle Worker captain specialization and the Discovery reputation equipment set for their massive boosts to hull repair. With properly chosen abilities and equipment it wasn’t hard to become nearly unkillable short of the very most difficult content, because I could just repair faster than the damage came in. There are some differences — in STO everyone is normally responsible for their own healing anyway, so massive self-heals are more normal, and STO ship builds allow for more defensive “turtling” than FFXIV (a thing I avoided because it bored me). But I can make a fairly direct connection from the big curvy Starfleet cruiser I used to be, wading into a swarm of enemies firing phaser beams in all directions, to the berserk catgirl laying about her with her axe that I am now.

Just soloed the last boss of the level 100 MSQ dungeon after the rest of the party died all at once. Whew, what a rush! Got three comms too. :3

As a follow-on, a general pattern I’m seeing in the Dawntrail expert dungeons is that someone will express uncertainty about mechanics, someone else will say they know the fight, follow them, then the person who claims to know the fight will die. These dungeon bosses are just plain hard! And I’m not going to claim I know any fight until it’s become truly routine for me.
