That's been my experience for a lot of games I've been interested in, but the biggest culprit for me is probably the dragonball Xenoverse games. I don't mean to say the music is bad, I just extremely do not like any of it and I just can't play any of the games despite having previously been interested in them. The music might also be why I no longer watch anything dragonball related anymore, despite having previously been a huge fan of the series.
This would probably prevent me from enjoying many other games, unfortunately. It really makes me wish there were ways to substitute alternative music in a way that doesn't clash with voice acting or sound effects, and that's probably asking too much of the video game industry, but boy I sure would have a whole lot less consumer regret in buying a game if that were the case, especially so for whenever the price tag for these games matches or exceeds those of games I actually would enjoy. Like, if I only had one game I intend to buy every couple of months, and that game turns out to have something like heavy metal or screamo or music you might expect to hear playing on the radio, that means I just wasted money on something I'll end up not playing. Again. And now it's stuck in my digital library, no way to gift or trade or get a refund for it (as far as I'm aware)
I honestly don't know what started this train of thought, it was probably just one of those things I tucked away somewhere to fester and today is just the day it burst.
