Dumbass in a dumb land

I was born in the late Holocene and I've seen some shit

I know the whole boutique blu-ray market thing is one of the last bastions of physical media and media ownership left in an increasingly hostile streaming landscape but I wish we'd made it to using solid state flash memory before streaming destroyed physical media forever.

I don't want to collect nice boutique blutays that are doomed to succumb to discrot, I want archival quality home media...

"disc rot" and "bit rot" are basically only things that ever happened to laserdiscs (a format from 1978). Even by DVD it was basically solved. You can pick up a DVD made in 1999 and it will play just fine today. Blu-rays take it even further by being made out of entirely inorganic dyes and having a scratch-resistant coating on them. Disc rot being a thing on DVD and Blu-ray is basically just an urban legend.
