Every New Year's Eve since 2014 I have told myself I am going to sit down and finally play Year Walk, a horror/weird fiction adventure game based around the Swedish New Year's Eve divination practice of Årsgång, on New Year's Eve and every single year something comes up and I don't do it and I put it off for another year, because I can't play this game any other time of year, can I?
In this way, intending to play but NOT playing Year Walk has almost become a yearly ritual; one I'm I'm going to try to make a point to finally break this year.
Ideally I'd really like to stream it but I'm away from my gaming PC this year and all I have available to me that I can play it on are a VERY shitty laptop held together with duct tape and a prayer and a steamdeck, neither of which seem like they'd be amenable to both PLAYING the game and streaming it to twitch or youtube at the same time. So this year, if I manage to break the curse, it will likely be alone.
Ah well, there's always next year.
