This universe links Remedy’s games into a single collective that affects each other in small and big ways, whether these were simple references to events in a prior competition or a full cameo of a character like in Control‘s AWE DLC.

Most fans thought that this included all of the company’s previous titles. However, when Sam was questioned about Mr. Door, a late-night talk show host featured in the latest Alan Wake 2 trailer, Sam said that Max Payne and Quantum Break are currently not in Remedy’s plans regarding the connected universe.

Mr. Door?? The Mr. Door from Control that is very obviously a direct reference to Martin Hatch from Quantum Break?? Also Alex Casey, a character in Alan Wake 1/2 and Control is just Max Payne by a different name since Remedy doesn't own the rights, and we've known this since Alan Wake 1.

Quantum Break directly references Alan Wake in its canon as a writer who went missing, and there's almost a shot-for-shot version of the Alan Wake II announcement trailer starring Alex Casey IN Quantum Break. There's also a SHITLOAD of stuff in the environment and in-game lore for Quantum Break that directly references the Department of Control and Ordinary, USA.

We already know Remedy is remaking/remastering Max Payne 1 and 2 for Rockstar, and I bet you they are working on getting the rights back to Max Payne and/or Quantum Break behind the scenes.
