So Wrestlemania is going to be in Philadelphia this year. This promises to be interesting.
For those who haven't been following, The Rock (yes, THAT "the rock") did some real life back stage politicking to try and insert himself into the main event of 'mania after the hottest babyface (that is, the "good guy" character) in the business (Cody Rhodes) was built being built up for it for a year.
People are PISSED at him now (which could be good if he goes full Heel [that is, the "bad guy" character] as a result).
How Philadelphia factors in is their fans are infamously vicious and deeply in to Pro Wrestling. ECW, the most infamous underground hard core wrestling show that changed the business forever in the 90s, was based out of there. The fans there are merciless and are exactly the kind of people this shit would piss off the most. They love their shows as violent as it gets, and tolerate absolutely no bullshit.
(My kind of people, fan wise).
On top of that, it's a tradition in the indie wrestling leagues such as GCW, MLW, CZW, etc. to host an indie show in the same city as wrestlemania as part of "Mania weekend" and this year they are doing it in Philidelphia, which is arguably holy ground for the indies due to ECW's legacy.
For the fans of the craft, this April is going to be brutal in the best possible way.
